Urban Decay = Happiness

I made the mistake of stopping by Ulta on the way home from the gym yesterday. BIG MISTAKE. First of all, the saleswomen looked at me (and treated me) like I had no idea what I was doing and they circled me like vultures, more so than they would on any other day. "Are you doing okay?", "Are you *sure* I can't help you with anything", "let me know if you need me", "Need help picking anything out?" is what I heard every five minutes. In their defense, I *was* completely nudie-faced, my hair was peeled back giving me the appearance of a peeled onion, I probably smelled like a dirty armpit, and my clothes probably gave the impression that I had completed a shopping spree at Good Will (No, I do not wear my finest clothes to the gym just to get them stinky and gross). But holy crap, those girls were getting on my nerves.

Anyways, point of my Ulta tale is this:Urban Decay awesomeness! 16 eyeshadows, 2 eyeliners, a miniature vial of Primer Potion (which, by the way, everyone needs), a giant mirror I'll never use, and some useless booklet full of their "favorite model" sporting different looks that they don't give you instructions on . $48 dollars worth of gloriousness! Can't wait to go to town with this stuff.

Here's the first eyeshadow look I went with:
Before you ask - No, those are not false eyelashes, those are my own. I was blessed in that department :) (though probably to make up for my awkwardness, clumsiness, and small boobs).

For this look I used Sellout, YDK, and Twice Baked, as well as a lite sweep of Midnight Cowboy Rides Again. Swatches:
No Flash
Natural Light:

The colors go on smoothly and have awesome staying power when paired with the Primer Potion. But ya'll already knew that one ;]

Stay tuned for more randomness from moi

Stay Classy,
XOXO

Pinup Photos

Missy edited just a few of a million of the photos we took on Saturday night. I went over to her place around 7pm. She did my makeup and slapped a Betty Paige wig on my noggin. My dog and I posed up a storm and 4 hours later, we finally finished. It was such a blast. Here is a small sample of what came out of our photoshoot:
The Betty Paige wig completely changes my appearance. I cant even believe that is me! Ha! I can't wait to see the rest.

Anyways, just a quick update. Back to work I go.

Stay tuned for more nonsense from yours truly,
XOXO

BFTE Beauty Brigade Review #1

Hey loves! Check out what I got in the mail on Friday! How awesome is it that I was chosen to be part of Beauty From The Earth's BEAUTY BRIGADE? I'm stoked. In all honesty, I had no idea that I was even being chosen. On BFTE's facebook page, their status had said that if you received an email with a tracking number, then you'd been selected. I however, never found one of those emails in my inbox. But Friday when I got home from work, and offical BFTE package was waiting for me. Inside was a letter of instruction as well as a lipgloss and a pot of mineral blush.

First, the lipgloss. Initial thoughts? LOVE IT. Its not a color I would have picked out for myself, but I'm so glad they sent it to me. There's no name to it, and I'm not sure how to explain it to ya'll, but its kind of a neutral rose-ish color. It goes on smoothly and doesn't feel sticky at all. I was scared it would, because in the letter it is described as a product "designed for people who like the feeling of a sticky gloss". Well, I am not one of those people. I like glosses, just not sticky ones. But this is quite the opposite of sticky. I squeezed it on my lips without issue and made my lips feel hydrated and smooth. Paired with a neutral colored lip liner, the gloss is PERFECT!

However, there were a couple of negatives to this product. When I first tried to squeeze a bit out, the top portion acted as though it was going to shoot off, and trust me, I used minimal pressure. A little gloss came out the side too. I have to be extra careful when squeezing the package. It doesn't seem to last very long, but then again, I have yet to come across a gloss that lasts. I suppose that's the nature of the beast. Lastly, the smell is kind of offputting. I can't really describe it... It smells like a mixture of vaseline and.. I can't place the smell... Its like a cleaning product of some sort. Either way, not a smell I would associate with something I'd like to smear all over my mouth. Just sayin'.

I do like it. And have been using it daily since I received it and will most likely continue to use it until I run out.

I don't have a lot of experience with mineral blushes, to be perfectly honest, but I really enjoyed playing with the blush BFTE sent me. Its a little light for my complection, or perhaps I only think that because the mica make the light bounce off these chubby cheeks of mine a little more than I'm used to.

I like wearing mineral makeup on lazy days. Days when I don't feel like busting out the foundation, eyeshadow primer, or the eyelash curler. Luckily, God blessed me with huge eyes and lengthy eyelashes, so I like to play them up and go the more dramatic route makeup wise. Mineral makeup is helping me embrace the more natural look (even though I refuse to skimp on the mascara and liquid eyeliner. lol)

See what I mean about the blush not being "my color"? Seems a little too Barbie Pink for my face. Yikes... I'll probably save it for times when I go on my tanning hiatuses (yes, I tan. And YES, I know its horrible for my skin. Its like an addiction at this point - I HATE being pastey white!)

In other news, I did my first pinup photoshoot with Missy from Miss Missy's Photography last night. It was more fun than I would ever have imagined. I don't wanna go into too much detail, but I'll post some pictures up when she finishes editing them! :)

Keep on keepin' on ladies!
XOXO

Accessory Organization

I don't know about you, but I have a crapload of accessories. Necklaces, bracelets, earrings, hats, scarves, sunglasses, headbands... The list goes on. Well, until recently, I had no way of organizing all of these accessories. They were shoved here or there or haphazardly tossed into a drawer. Necklaces were tangled around the neck of the bust of Athena on my desk. Earrings were scattered about inside of my purse, dresser drawers, on the nightstand, or wherever else I had peeled them off my ears and decided to leave them. See here:
And here:
(beautiful, no?) ha!

Well one day I happened upon Javy's blog, Scarlet Empress, and found that she had discovered an awesome way to organize accessories. Longstem makes a wall/door mountable jewelry and accessory organizer that holds hundreds of your favorite pieces without taking up drawer or counter space! After reading about how pleased Javy was with her purchase, I decided to buy the same product.

Most jewelry organizers are stand alones that offer a way to organizer either only earrings (taking up counter/table space), or the tall jewelry boxes will organize rings/bracelets/necklaces in little drawers (taking up floor space). Those items typically sell for $40 to $200. The item I purchased was $64 with shipping. It took less than a week to arrive and was incredibly easy to assemble. The pieces just snap together!

After putting my new purchase together and hanging it on the door, I had to dig through my draw of accesories and find everything in order to get it on my door mounted organizer. It took me awhile, but eventually I got everything out and onto the organizer. I LOVE IT!I was able to get my necklaces, earrings, bracelets, rings, sunglasses, headbands, and hats on there with room to spare. As I was hanging my earrings upon the organizer, it became increasingly obvious that I am missing a few of my favorite pairs. My electric guitar earrings, for example. They are totally MIA. *sigh*

The only complaint I have is that the organizer with all the accessories on it makes quite a racket when opening and shutting the door. The necklaces swing against the door when moved, assuring that anyone who might have been asleep when you opened/closed the door will no longer be sleeping by the time you finish. Also, the brackets that go on top of/over the door prevent the door from being closed without using a little more force than what one might typically need to shut a regular bedroom door. I may solve these issues by moving the organizer to the closet door, or clearing off some wall space and attaching it to the wall with the included wall mounts.

All in all, I'd say this was worth the money. I love having extra drawer space and the ability to find all my accessories with just one glance! Again, the organizer is from Longstem Products and can be found on here on eBay.

Until next time lovers,

XOXO

Mission Statement and all that jazz.

Ladies (and gentlemen?)! Welcome to the wild and weird world of yours truly. I am Stephanie (or Steph as I prefer to be called), your eccentric host/blogger/makeup connoisseur.

I like adore love AM OBSESSED WITH cosmetics/hair. I believe in mascara (and lots of it) and eyeliner. I believe in eye makeup that makes people say "OMG! How did you do that?". I believe in funky hair colors, fun hair cuts, and wearing fauxhawks and liberty spikes to concerts (yes, I have done these things...multiple times).

Wanna learn some makeup techniques? Have a desire to experiment with funky colors? Feel the urge to listen to me babble on about everything and anything? Well you are in luck. Oh yes, YOU. ARE. IN. LUCK. Why you ask? I plan on doing just those things and more. Right here at this blog even. Makeup reviews, application techniques, tutorials, hair-do how-to's, and general tomfoolery will all happen right here. RIGHT HERE! Oh the excitement!

All I ask is that you:

1.) Participate when I ask for feedback
2.) Don't judge me on my lack of blogging skills. (I am, you might say, a "blogging virgin")

Easy peasy, no?

That's what I thought.

Mmmkay. This is the time when I have to give a lil' shout out to my love-bug and best friend in the whole wide world: Kittie Mau Mau!

I can hear you thinking "Who is this 'Kittie Mau Mau' character?" Well, Kittie is my shadow. She's my snugglebuddy. She's a shoulder to cry on. She loves me unconditionally. And she's my dog!
Kittie is a black/tan/white (black tri) Miniature Australian Shepherd. And today is her BIRTHDAY!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABY GIRL!!

Kittie was born on September 26th, 2001. 8 years old today. EIGHT years old. Geeze. How time flies... Why, it seems just yesterday she was this tiny ball of fluffy fur, given to me for my birthday in December of '01. Giant Christmas bow stuck atop her tiny little noggin... Oh Mau Mau, how I love you silly girl.

To celebrate this joyous occasion, I trotted my happy self down to Southlake Towne Centre and purchased some luxiourous hand-baked doggie treats from the Three Dog Bakery in Southlake,TX. Doggie Drooley Bars, Pupcakes, and a bone cookie personalized with Kittie's name in dog-friendly carob "chocolate". I should have taken a couple of pictures; those treats were so adorable and looked like something made for humans to eat. Kittie was way too excited at the prospect of gettin' down on some "people food" to allow me to grab the camera and snap some pics. She inhaled them in about 2 minutes! Of course she had to share with her sister, Zoey. We don't play favorites around here. ;]

Okay lovies, stay tuned for the next post. I'm still learning how to blog, so this should be an adventure for all of us.

Peace out until next time,

XOXO
